Dear Statlist Users
I am trying to derive a variable that will tell me which households pay above 30 percent of their disposable income on mortgage costs, but I am not sure how to do this in Stata (the typical income / mortgage costs * 100) equation does not seem to work for me. Ideally, I would like to generate a simple indicator variable which would tell me which of the households were spending 30 percent or more (=1) and those who were under 30 percent (=0).
Any suggestions would be appreciated
