Hi all,
This is my first post. I am a very junior researcher new to stata. I'm trying to use "nl" to estimate the knot and the best tutorial available to me is http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/stata/f...imal_knots.htm
However I don't understand the syntax/formula associated. I figured I would need to have a firm understanding of this, especially to be able to use it for >1 knots in future. Please can someone explain it?
y = (c + β1*x)*(x < k) + [c + β1*k + β2*(x - k)]*(x ≥ k)
where k is the knot and c is the y-intercept.
Thank you.
Rob
