Dear All Stata User,
As you see in attach I have repeated variable in my dataset. My data is unbalanced. I have 45 countries and 230 parties in the data. Each country has different amount of parties. i.e Denmark has 13 different parties throughout the data, Finland has 8 different parties and so on. Right_Overall and KOF are dependent and independent variables, respectively. I would like to keep my repeated variable in the process of panel regression analysis. Before starting the analysis, I introduced my data set as panel like the following:
xtset partycode year
However I see an error like ‘repeated time values within panel’
I looked over the STATA forum. I found some people having the same problem with me and read all the answer. I realized that isid command was advised mostly, but this command doesn’t work for my problem. I also realized other solution like giving each of the individual a number. As far as I understand, if I apply this second solution to my data I have to assign a number each of the parties. This means I will have 230 cross sections in the data. I guess, if I apply to this method my data set will be different kind of data set, not panel data!
Summary, I would like to apply random effect methodologies to my paper. I have a data like I mention above and I would like to keep my repeated value. Could you please give me some advice about that? Which way should I follow and apply?
Thank you in advance.
All the best.
